A417 Missing Link Cotswold Way diversion map on site

A temporary diversion is in place on the Cotswold Way near Birdlip from 3 July 2026 for at least six months, while the A417 is rerouted.

For the first 12 to 14 weeks, walkers follow the pavement for about 250 metres along Leckhampton Hill. After that phase, the route uses a permissive path at National Star - see the loop at the north end of the diversion map.

The diversion should be waymarked on the ground. If you find missing markers, please report them so they can be replaced. Carry an up-to-date map or app - see our Navigation page for guidebooks and route tools.

Crickley Hill facilities - car park, paths, and cafe - are unaffected and remain reachable from the Cotswold Way.

For maps and the latest official details, see the National Trails notice: Diversion at A417 Birdlip.
