Horse-riding routes

Bridleway and byway routes for riders exploring the Cotswolds and nearby long-distance links.

The Cotswolds connect into established long-distance riding routes, including the Sabrina Way and Claude Duval links. Together these create practical options for day rides and longer point-to-point journeys across bridleways, restricted byways, quiet lanes, commons, and farmland landscapes.

Route planning is still essential: surfaces can vary through the year, gates and crossings may affect pace, and some sections are better suited to experienced riders. Check access rights, current conditions, and suitable parking before setting out. The British Horse Society also developed the Cotswolds on Horseback series, which remains a useful reference for planning riding routes in this area.
